As you get to know your ovulation period, the chances of your conception are high. The ovulation period is generally in the middle of your menstrual cycle. If your menstrual cycle is of 28 days you are expected to ovulate on the 14th day. This depends on your menstrual cycle.

There are two kinds of ovulation tests kits:

Ovulation test strips: The test strips to tell you your ovulation period are dipped in a container filled with your sample urine for about 30 seconds. Then, after the first process the strip is needed to be left aside for about a period of 5 minutes. The color of the strip will specify whether you are nearing your ovulation or not. The LH surge in your body will let you know whether you are at the peak of your fertility. The bolder the shade of the ovulation tests strips gets the nearer are you to your ovulation period.

Midstream Ovulation Tests: These tests are pretty similar to the traditional home based pregnancy tests. This midstream test kit is positioned under you, as you urinate. This test is also set for an average time of 5 minutes. The results displayed are pretty much in a same way of the pregnancy test.

Normally the ovulation tests results need to be read after 5 minutes. Delaying for more than that can give you wrong indications. Both kinds of tests are good. Choose the one, which you feel is the most convenient for you.

Both the types of these ovulation tests kits work in the same principle of measuring the amount of LH in your body. As you near your ovulation period your body experiences a surge of LH. When you take the tests, you are actually measuring the amount of LH which is present in your urine. You must take the test early in the morning and use the first urine of the day as your sample. If however you miss to do so, you can take the test at anytime of the day, by just avoiding urinating prior to 3 to four hours of the test.

If you are tested positive in the ovulation tests then you can expect to ovulate in the next 24 to 36 hours. Thus, you can try to conceive in that particular period to be successful.
