Once identified head lice: Protect yourself from these parasites

Children, the major target of head lice is terror for parents as it becomes very difficult to get rid of such parasitic insects. Blood is their food and they are commonly found on scalp or upper part of your neck. So their removal becomes a very important thing.

Basically girls and women are more prone to lice as compared to boys and men. There are three stages which lead to formation of lice and they are nits, nymphs and adults. Apart from elimination of these insects there are two decisive factors which you need to be aware of: One is identification of these insects. Another is protecting yourself and family from occurrence of head lice.

Basically identification becomes very easy in light as nits and nymphs tend to shine in light. Once you detect the existence of lice, your next step would be to hunt the entire scalp and try to remove as much lice as possible. As it is most difficult job and time consuming as well so it is advisable to opt for some special treatment which can help to eliminate head lice effectively in limited period of time.

There are also head lice killer shampoos or medicine available in market with particular element and with certain washes you can say goodbye to head lice. After done with medicinal treatment if you still find live head lice then do not redo the treatment, but use the comb with special brushes and remove the live head lice. Remember that even a single remaining nit can be terrifying as this would lead to more head lice.

Once done with identification and elimination of lice, see to it that you prevent yourself or your child from further occurrence of lice. Maintaining hygiene is the key factor which can keep your child away from lice. There are many things which you need to avoid like sharing comb, clothes, pillow, towel and so on. Also within one or two days change all the curtains, bed sheets, pillow cover of your room.

Try to avoid head to head contact as much as possible while playing, studying or while doing any other outdoor activities. It is essential; for parents to take this issue seriously as regular occurrence of head lice may lead to skin infection or skin sore. More use of medicinal shampoos can also be hazardous, especially for pregnant women. So it is important to take preventative measures so that you can keep yourself away from head lice.
